Chelmsford, MA – Triton Systems, a leader in advanced defense innovations, is proud to announce the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility dedicated to cold spray processing techniques. The facility, located at 250 Apollo Drive in Chelmsford, MA, represents a significant investment in the U.S. military industrial base and innovative solutions for defense applications.
The new facility is designed to enhance the production of advanced materials and coatings using cold spray technology, a cutting-edge process that enables the repair, restoration, and near-net manufacturing of high-performance components critical to defense and aerospace operations.
Dr. Bryer Sousa, Triton’s Cold Spray Team Leader, said, “With our new cold spray systems, Triton is delivering transformational domestic production capabilities for U.S. maritime and defense needs. Examples range from fabrication of large structural replacements for submarines and surface ships, to restoring worn parts on site. These advanced manufacturing methods will strengthen resilient supply chains and reduce lead times, directly aligning with the Pentagon’s focus on domestic shipbuilding, sustainment readiness, and industrial base resilience.”
Strategically located on the Route 129 Technology Corridor, the Apollo Drive facility reinforces Triton’s commitment to leveraging the skilled Massachusetts and New Hampshire labor force to drive innovation in defense and aerospace manufacturing.
Congresswoman Lori Trahan, who spoke at the facility opening, stated, “The opening of this facility is a direct result of the public-private partnership that really makes Massachusetts a national model for innovation. The possibilities of this facility are endless, whether it’s enabling the production of large-scale high-performance metallic components, or creating hands-on training in this facility for the next generation of skilled manufacturing professionals. This new facility is critical to supporting the United States defense and aerospace sectors and solidifying the Commonwealth as a regional home for the American defense supply chain.”
Triton’s CEO, David Model, said, “Today marks the culmination of three years of planning and construction, but it’s only the beginning of the journey. This expansion not only strengthens our capabilities but also deepens our ties to Chelmsford, the MetroWest region, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, building on a 30-year history and commitment of expanding in Chelmsford, MA.”
Chelmsford Town Manager Paul Cohen noted, ” When you’re sitting in the Town offices or are leading the Town government, this is the type of investment, the type of jobs that every town strives for, and honestly, it’s exciting and thrilling to have. The message I want to convey is a message of gratitude.”
The Apollo Drive facility will also provide flexible prototyping and manufacturing cells for several of Triton’s newest military products. Triton has already established collaborations with local academic institutions and workforce development partners, including MassMEP, to support technology transition and training initiatives. Triton’s corporate headquarters and primary development center will continue at 330 Billerica Road in Chelmsford.
