Mr. Ross Haghighat, Chief Executive Officer
Ross Haghighat is a serial entrepreneur and venture capitalist who specializes in transforming early-stage technologies into thriving companies in telecom, biopharma, cloud-based disease management, industrial chemicals, and military logistics. Ross has been a founder, cofounder, and board member of more than a dozen private and public technology companies in the U.S., Europe, Middle East, and Australia.
He has been a founder or co-founder of 12 start-ups, has served as chairman or vice chairman of three publicly listed companies, and has been a part of several M&A deals.
Ross earned a Master of Science in organometallic chemistry from Rutgers University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in advanced materials engineering from Rutgers University.
David Model, Chief Operating Officer
David has 41 years of business experience in biotech, biomedical, aerospace and other high-technology fields. He has served Triton and its affiliates in an executive role from start-up through self-sufficiency – including COO and CFO of two of Triton’s public company affiliates, and CEO, CFO, or COO of seven privately financed affiliates. In these roles, he has led many rounds of private and public equity financing, set up joint ventures, acquired and sold businesses and in- or out-licensed numerous technologies.
Prior to Triton, David was a founder and president of ImageMax, Inc. (now DataBank IMX), and part of the group that led ImageMax’s successful IPO in 1997. He also co-managed Airfoil Technologies, LLC, a joint venture between Teleflex and General Electric to provide commercial airlines with turbine repair services. (General Electric acquired 100% of the venture in 2009.) David began his career at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, designing engine components and later running development and test programs.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University.
Ken Mahmud, Executive Vice President
Ken manages Triton’s R&D efforts. He brings more than 30 years of industrial experience leading multidisciplinary research teams in advanced materials and device development from idea conception to commercialization. Prior to joining Triton, Ken was R&D director at Cabot Corporation, a Fortune 1000 advanced materials company. He holds 32 patents in novel materials and sensors and has authored numerous book chapters and publications.
Ken earned his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and has completed executive management programs at Harvard Business School, MIT, and the University of Michigan. He was recognized as a most valuable contributor by the Small Business Technology Council of the National Small Business Association for his contributions in enriching the SBIR program.
Anant Singh, Executive Vice President
Anant has championed technology implementation at Triton and has a proven track record of developing, implementing and monetizing technologies based on deep science. He established several of the company’s top product venturing initiatives and led them from concept to commercial success. Recent examples include mission-critical products implemented on the nation’s premier military aerospace platforms with nearly a $1Billion impact. He co-leads execution on Triton’s current portfolio of technology commercialization initiatives. His achievements include building and leading multidisciplinary, cross-organizational teams through fundraising, R&D, product strategy and development, IP management, business venture formation, manufacturing and sales.
Anant previously worked at Arthur D. Little Inc., building an impressive track-record of creating spinoff companies. Prior to that, he was instrumental in building Triton in its early years.
Anant earned a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Penn State University and a B.Tech. (Honors) from the Indian Institute of Technology. He received the 1996 Norbert J. Kreidl Award from the American Ceramic Society.
Tyson Lawrence, Chief Technology Officer
Tyson co-leads Triton’s commercialization efforts and is a technology development leader with a track record of assembling high-performing teams to secure funding and execute development of new products. A champion for technology that generates value, he pursues an aggressive agenda at Triton to support rapid innovation and entrepreneurship.
Prior to Triton, Tyson worked at Insight Product Development, where he was responsible for helping to formulate a rigorous development process. At TIAX, LLC, he managed the PlaceLab collaboration with the MIT Media Lab.
Tyson earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Sonja Hansen, Vice President – Human Resources
Sonja has more than 25 years of experience in human resources leadership for large and small, public and private, commercial and government-contracting firms. At Triton and in prior positions, she has gained experience in spinning off new businesses and blending in new acquisitions. Her strengths are in employment law, OFCCP, FMLA/ADA/EEO/WC, employee relations, managerial coaching/mentoring, recruitment, and training. She has been with Triton for more than 20 years.
Arthur Gavrin, Vice President – Advanced Materials
Arthur has more than 20 years of technology R&D experience at Triton Systems, helping advance the companies innovations from concept to application. Under his direction, cross-organizational, multidisciplinary teams have been involved in all areas of the R&D process, including technology idealization, feasibility demonstration, prototype/scale-up development, customer development, design for manufacturing, and on-time/on budget production.
Arthur earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and English, with a Certificate in Personnel Management from the University of Rochester. He earned a Master of Science in chemistry from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. And he received a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the University of Florida. He also completed a postdoctoral research appointment synthesizing fire safe polymers at the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Amy Etherington, General Counsel
Amy has more than 30 years of legal experience as both a general counsel and legal advisor in mergers and acquisition for public and privately held companies with global interests. Amy has closed more than 40 complex domestic and international transactions, ranging in value from $1 million to $10 billion. She has negotiated and drafted documents for mergers and acquisitions, corporate contracts, joint ventures, licensing and services, and collaboration and strategic alliances. Amy holds both a Bachelors of Arts degree in economics and political science from Yale University, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law. She is currently a member of the Bar Associations of New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
