Triton Systems Announce New Licensing Agreement with CPS Technologies
CHELMSFORD, Mass, March 27, 2024: Triton Systems (Triton), an innovative product development and venturing company transitioning ideas to commercial enterprises, announces it has completed a licensing agreement with CPS Technologies (CPS) to commercialize and manufacture Triton’s novel FRA® Composites platform. As per the agreement, CPS has obtained the exclusive worldwide rights to produce and market products utilizing Triton’s FRA Composite technology. Triton holds strong patent safeguards for the technology, established over several years. Triton will receive a percentage of revenue for each FRA item sold; further details were not revealed.
FRA Composites® (fiber reinforced aluminum) (FRA) is a patented high-strength aluminum alloy randomly reinforced with chopped ceramic (alumina-silicate) fibers. It has excellent wear resistance, is light weight and has impressive high temperature strength properties (three times that of high-strength aluminum). Tests also confirm it has equivalent or better resistance to various forms of wear compared to steel and cast iron – and only 1/3 the density of ferrous alloys. FRA has a multitude of applications in military vehicles (fixed-wing, helicopters, tilt rotor, UAVs, and combat vehicles) and commercial markets (aerospace, motor sports, heavy trucks, and oilfield drilling).
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with CPS Technologies to initiate the next stage of large-scale manufacturing for FRA composites. This marks the beginning of producing various FRA-based products for aerospace, defense, and other markets.,” noted Triton’s Executive Vice President, Dr. Anant Singh. “Through this partnership, Triton will continue to expand upon its proven track record of developing science-based innovations and successfully implementing them on the nation’s top defense platforms, as well as penetrating commercial markets.”
“For several decades, CPS has produced a variety of metal matrix composite materials using advanced manufacturing processes for both military and commercial applications,” said CPS’s CEO & President Brian Mackey. “Adding FRA Composites to our product portfolio enables us to build upon our core competencies, provide value for our customers, and more rapidly grow the business. We are excited by the opportunity to partner with Triton to leverage our production capabilities going forward.”
